The Eldon modular watch allows the user to fully customise their design from a variety of removable bezel, watch body, strap and dial designs. Based around a Swiss Ronda quartz movement, the watch is produced from brushed stainless steel and water resistant to 50m.
The technical design of the watch was built around the Ronda movement and incorporates several sourced watch components such as the glass and mounting components. The modular aspect of the design posed an interesting technical challenge and care was taken to maximise the size the removable bezel and ensure ease of disassembly by the user.
In collaboration with client, watch aesthetics and dial designs were explored and refined. Basic CAD models, sketch designs and 3D renderings were used to accurately visualise the product before moving into detailed design, prototyping and manufacture.
The final prototype was created in conjunction with the manufacturer and several refinements implemented in order to further improve assembly. The final design is CNC'd from 316L stainless steel in a variety of different electroplated colours and finishes.
